NRL news | Mitch Barnett could leave Knights for Warriors, Kalyn Ponga contract situation

Newcastle’s woes are set to continue with fiery back-rower Mitch Barnett close to joining the Warriors for next season.

The news comes just a day after talks between the club and match-winning fullback Kalyn Ponga reportedly broke down – a report the club strongly denies – and the Knights lost their fourth straight game, succumbing to the Dragons in Wollongong.

Barnett is currently serving a six-match ban for a vicious off-the-ball hit on Penrith forward Chris Smith.
