Queensland close contact rules expected to relieve pressure on businesses

The Queensland government is amending the quarantine requirements for double vaccinated close contacts from tomorrow, in a move expected to relieve pressure on businesses facing a shortage of staff.

COVID-19 cases in the sunshine state have been gradually climbing over the last few days, with a total of 86 cases recorded on Tuesday.

This has created difficulties for businesses where a worker has tested positive for COVID-19, due to the 14-day quarantine requirement for close contacts causing staffing shortages at one of the busiest times of year.

The close contact changes were originally slated for January 1, however mounting pressure from businesses and Queenslanders caused the state government to bring the changes forward.
