Satellite Images Show Mariupol Devastation as UN Pushes for Evacuations

Satellite images released by Maxar Technologies on April 30 depict vast devastation across the southern city of Mariupol, Ukraine, and crowds of people outside two supermarkets where they were collecting supplies. Maxar said the images were taken on April 29. Storyful has not independently confirmed the date of capture. Along with the images of the supermarkets, Maxar released shots of the Azovstal steel plant, the city’s destroyed drama theater, Mariupol railway station, the Port of Mariupol, the Vynohradne cemetery to the east of the city, and various city blocks that had been heavily damaged.
