A third debate between Scott Morrison and Anthony Albanese has been announced and may represent a huge break from tradition.
Scott Morrison and Anthony Albanese will square off in a third leaders debate on Wednesday, May 11.
The event will be aired by Channel 7 and hosted by political editor Mark Riley.
Sky News hosted the first debate on April 20 and Channel 9 has already clinched the second, scheduled for Sunday, May 8.
With Channel 7’s broadcast just 10 days before the election, it is not known if there will be another opportunity for the leaders to go head to head.
It has not yet been revealed if the ABC will host a debate despite putting the call out to both parties.
It would represent a huge change for the public broadcaster’s role in the electoral process if it was not to host a leaders debate.
“The ABC invites leaders of the main political parties to take part in a debate every federal election and 2022 is no exception,” the ABC said in a statement.
